Disney‘s new live-action adaptation of Mulan may be PG-13, but it’s still a Disney Princess movie. While the main storyline involves a young woman going off to fight in a war, this is a family film, which means things aren’t going to get particularly violent, even when Hua Mulan is facing off against invading armies. While that PG-13 rating broadens the potential audience for the film, it also limits the potential narrative scope of the story....

Just two days after being posted to YouTube, the gameplay video for the Metal Gear Survive demo has received a flood of ‘dislikes’ and negative comments. Lately, Konami has been having a bit of a fall from grace in the eyes of its customers. This is partly due to the way the company unceremoniously canceled the much anticipated Silent Hills and then, just as unceremoniously, fired legendary video game director Hideo Kojima soon after – going as far as banning Kojima from accepting an award for Metal Gear Solid 5....

In recent years, Microsoft has shown a desire to spread its reach as far as possible, releasing its once-Xbox One exclusives on PC, bringing Xbox Live to competing platforms like the Nintendo Switch, and more. Apparently, Microsoft’s quest to be everywhere in gaming even saw it at one point try to bring Halo: The Master Chief Collection to the PS4. This is according to Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast hosted by former IGN journalist Colin Moriarty, who said as much in the most recent episode....

It’s been ten years now since the last mainline Fable game and fans have clearly been hungry for a sequel ever since, with only a couple of spin-off titles to keep them pre-occupied. Despite there being no official word, many seem convinced that a Fable 4 is in the works and new evidence has been discovered that could point to that being true. On June 26th, the trademark for Fable was renewed by Microsoft, which on its own isn’t anything special, as companies regularly renew trademarks for IPs they control, not always with the intent to do anything with them....

There are still many lingering questions about the trends that will continue as the industry moves into the next generation of consoles. With the increase in game prices starting as a new trend for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series platforms, the industry is already starting to see change. As far as bizarre Internet “challenges” go, the Momo Suicide Game is definitely one of the most disturbing. The Momo Suicide Game is primarily “played” through the WhatsApp messenger service, and bombards players with disturbing images, including the titular bug-eyed Momo creature. The anonymous person on the other side of the app then encourages “players” to commit acts of self-harm, including suicide....

Jennifer Hale is one of gaming’s biggest and longest-running voice actors. While Hale has been voice acting since the mid-90s, with one of her very first roles being in the 1994 adventure RPG Quest for Glory: Shadows of Darkness playing the role of Katrina. Since then, Hale has gone on to portray hundreds of different characters in hundreds of different games. Due to the nature of the business, some of her roles are more impactful and iconic than others and some are pretty forgettable for multiple reasons....

Bandai Namco has announced that Giorno Giovanna will be joining the anime fighter Jump Force in Spring 2021. The Italian protagonist is coming as the final character in the second character pass for Jump Force. With its release back in 2019, the crossover fighter by Spike Chunsoft saw a host of the strongest characters from Shonen Jump duking it out. Recognizable heroes from well-known manga like Straw Hat Luffy, Goku, and Naruto are just a few available to play....

Between Mass Effect 2 and 3, yeomen Kelly Chambers became almost unrecognisable. Due to character textures not transferring over to the sequel properly, her face ended up looking a whole lot different, completely unintentionally. Nine years later, Mass Effect Legendary Edition gave developers the chance to unify the two designs, and create some coherency across the trilogy. It took a while, but Hideo Kojima and Konami have finally given up The Phantom Pain charade — confirming that the alleged game by Moby Dick Studios was actually Metal Gear Solid 5 all along. The system update can either be a gift or a curse — giving players some cool new feature to tool around with or preventing them from playing their favorite game online. And in the PS3’s case, the system update has somewhat of a negative connotation. With that being said, Sony has released a new update (number 4.5) for the PS3 that might alleviate some of that negative connotation. It’s not common that we cover system updates, mind you - especially PS3 updates since they are so prevalent - but the latest is worth highlighting for several reasons....

As gamers await a glimpse at the future of gaming during this year’s E3, it would appear that Microsoft is already prepping for that ever-approaching window. While specifics on that future are still being kept secret by the massive company, a new update for the Xbox One has been released in anticipation of the format’s next major steps. It’s not all that unusual to see valuable but limited merchandise end up being sold on secondhand online markets for questionably high prices. Just look at the Nintendo Switch reseller prices. What is unusual about this new case, however, is the product being sold: popsicles. Specifically, Pokemon-branded popsicles.
