No more than a few days ago, developer Tripwire Interactive officially announced that its zombie-filled first-person action game Killing Floor 2 would make its way to Microsoft’s Xbox One console. She runs away looking for help, and in her distress, bumps into a Black boy. Black folks on the street look on in horror as cops threaten the boy for “assaulting” the woman. She assures them the boy was only helping. She’s shocked at white strangers’ concern for her, and Black folks’ fear of her, and realizes how powerful the weapon of white femininity is....

Earlier this year, Rock Band 4 was announced to many fans’ delight. In a surprising turn, developer Harmonix also revealed that they would be making the game without the support of MTV or EA (who helped publish other games in the series) and would instead be partnering up with Mad Catz. The partnership was completely unexpected, as Mad Catz had previously worked with Harmonix by helping them manufacture Rock Band’s plastic instruments....

Magic Legends aims to put gamers in control of planeswalkers with magical powers through the lens of an action RPG, rather than a collectible card game. This is brand new territory for the Magic: The Gathering brand and lots of fans are very excited about the potential to make a planeswalker of their own (outside of Dungeons and Dragons) and act out massive battles against iconic MtG villains on some of the franchise’s most popular planes....

After starting out as an actress in 2009, New Jersey native Sophia Takal quickly graduated to directing, helming her debut independent feature Green in 2011. That was followed in 2016 by Always Shine (featuring an up-and-coming Mackenzie Davis) and, last year, an episode of Hulu’s horror anthology series, Into the Dark, titled “New Year, New You,” which Takal also wrote. With her previous two films (she also wrote Green) essentially being psychological dramas/thrillers exploring aspects of the female psyche, it somehow makes perfect sense for her to direct the new feature Black Christmas, the third movie to come out under that title since 1974....

The first Mass Effect has always been regarded as the true RPG of the trilogy, but I didn’t realise the extent of this statement until I jumped into the sequel when working my way through the Legendary Edition. It’s basically a shooter, taking away the open environments of its predecessor in exchange for tight, choreographed set design interspersed with brief moments of narrative between each firefight. You’re always working towards a worthwhile goal, but the combat soon dissolves into a puddle of repetitive shootouts that don’t offer enough mechanical versatility to feel truly satisfying....

Mass Effect: Andromeda offers players a chance to get to know a new cast of companions, some of which can be romanced. Since these characters are getting to know Pathfinder Ryder a bit, one of the things they have to do is to earn their team’s loyalty, just like in Mass Effect 2. One of those companions is the Turian rebel Vetra Nyx. Vetra is the first female Turian to be a part of either Ryder or Commander Shepard’s squad....

Mass Effect Legendary Edition has just released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It comprises the first three Mass Effect games, the Shepard trilogy, and also includes over 40 DLC packs so that players can get the full experience. The physical edition of Mass Effect Legendary Edition includes two discs — a Play Disc and a Data Disc. However, this is confusing some players as the installation disc doesn’t seem to be doing anything once inserted for Xbox One users....

About several months ago, the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain actress Stefanie Joosten appeared to tease her involvement in the upcoming Death Stranding after she posted a series of photos on social media, only to then say that she wasn’t apart of the project at that time. While the Dutch model, singer, and thespian may or may not wind up being in the director’s forthcoming game, fans of her character in MGS5 – that is, the Diamond Dog defect known as Quiet – will now at least be able to play as the scantily clad assassin in FOB missions....

If there ever were a game in need of a remake, it would be the first game in the Metal Gear Solid series, and if there ever were a time for this remake to happen, it would be now. But considering the unfavorable way Hideo Kojima and Konami split up, along with the failure that was Konami’s Metal Gear Survive, it’s unlikely that an official remake of Metal Gear Solid will ever happen....
