After hearing the story of how High Moon Studios game director Matt Tieger had to convince Hasbro to let him bring the Dinobots out of retirement for the War for Cybertron sequel, we could appreciate the game’s offerings that much more. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron’s marketing campaign has been led by Grimlock ever since its first teaser and full trailer released....

Genshin Impact fans were treated to a sneak peek of the newest character coming to the open-world game, Kaedehara Kazuha. Developer Mihoyo revealed a bunch of information about the newest sword-wielding hero, including a trailer discussing his troubled past and showing off his combat style. In a post to the game’s official website, Mihoyo offered a deep-dive into the “Ronin from Inazuma”. Kazuha is described as a gentle soul who enjoys reciting poetry and leisurely conversation....

David Fincher’s Mindhunter debuted on Netflix in 2017 and was followed by a second season two years later. While a potential third season was put on indefinite hold in early 2020, Fincher has now indicated that the series is unlikely to return due to a combination of costs and the time-consuming schedule. Based on the book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by retired FBI agent John E. Douglas, the series centers on agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench as they work with psychologist Wendy Carr in the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit during the early development of criminal profiling....

All across social media, Mixer streamers and staff are voicing their heartbreak over the sudden surprise announcement that the streaming platform is shutting down. Practically the entire Mixer community (except for Shroud and Ninja, who are reportedly making millions off the shutdown) found out that Microsoft is ending support for the streaming site when it was announced by The Verge this morning. This news comes as a sudden shock to Mixer creators, many of whom rely on the platform as their sole source of income....

Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the second time this year. MGM, Universal, and 007 franchise producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced No Time to Die will be delayed until April 2021. The 25th installment of the James Bond franchise was originally scheduled to debut in theaters in April 2020. However, the film was one of the first major Hollywood blockbusters to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic when MGM, Universal, and the producers opted to push back its release date until November 2020....

Nearly thirty years after its release in the United States in 1989, the TurboGrafx-16 is finally getting its own retro console courtesy of Konami. The TurboGrafx-16 was the result of NEC partnering with Hudson Soft, a Japanese video game company, to make their own console in a time when everyone was doing it. Thanks to NEC, Hudson Soft had the funds it needed to create its own console using an advanced graphics chip which it had previously presented to Nintendo executives sometime earlier only to be turned down....

Konami has officially pulled out of the E3 2021 online showcase due to timing issues. The developer was originally part of the showcase roster, along with the likes of Nintendo, Microsoft, Capcom, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, and Koch Media. However, the Japanese publisher has assured fans that it is currently working on a few projects which will be revealed soon. “Due to timing we will not be ready to present at E3 this year,” said Konami via a statement on Twitter....

Lego Mario has started calling out for Luigi following a new update, indicating that the better Mario brother might be making his way to Lego. As reported by Eurogamer, the discovery was made by Twitter user AyliffeMakit who was messing around with Mario after a new treasure hunt update. Upon waking up from an idle state Maro can be heard repeating Luigi’s name, which is a new voice line for the Lego figure and is especially confusing considering Luigi doesn’t currently exist as part of the Lego Super Mario line....

When a franchise exists long enough, there comes a time when it needs to evolve and change. Sometimes a particular series decides to go the open-world route in an effort to evolve. Going into the genre is no easy feat, however, and many franchises tumble and fall in their attempts to branch out into an open-world experience. The title of Rian Johnson’s sequel to Knives Out has been revealed, and it’s giving us Shrek vibes. “In Rian Johnson’s whodunnit Knives Out, a metaphorical donut and donut hole lay out the mystery. After years of waiting, the long-awaited horror game sequel Little Nightmares 2 has finally been released for fans. Even though it just came out, it is arguably one of the biggest game releases of February 2021. Many fans of the Little Nightmares series will remember that there are plenty of collectibles in the first game, which carries into the sequel. One of these being little hats that the main protagonist can wear....

Little Nightmares 2 is the latest in a very specific gaming sub-genre. Similar to games like Inside and Limbo - so basically everything Playdead has ever made - this type of game blends together platforming, puzzle-solving, and horror. It also usually features a small child being placed in horrible danger. I don’t think this genre has a title, but I’ve floated the name “Child Murder Simulator” before as a good descriptor for it....
